The Carnal Mind

The "Carnal mind is at enmity with God" and is opposed to the Spirit, the Bible teaches. The carnal mind is the mind that has not and cannot get unstuck from it's attachment to basic needs and desires and its pathos (emotional suffering and preoccupation). A spiritual mind flees to God through prayer, that it may find clarity and insight. Prayer (of the sort that has an honest and intimate rapport with God) literally creates an almost instantaneous shift in the brain (and one that can't quite be explained through science alone) which transcends lower brain states.
